This is a local #BlackLivesMatter chapter in the metropolitan area. BLM was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. The BLM mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.

The purpose of advocacy is to mobilize in support of policy. Prime times to mobilize through advocacy are during the General Assembly session and emergency sessions. However, this can also happen at the local-level year-long. Activism is year long where community members ignite the change they wish to see in the community at the grassroots level.
We focus on making the maximum positive effort to mutually empower our community. Our brands provide the momentum that helps us affect change. By leveraging the power of the people with networking and brand strategy, we ignite change.
